In this episode we
discuss a topic that Bill has been thinking about. Can we
exercise and develop our mental health the same way that we
exercise our bodies?
Wow, what a great
question! We look at how we react to particular situations
and thoughts , and how focused attention to those reactions allows
us to respond differently than we are used to.
We then explore the
idea of "Flow State", looking at what this means in
general, and to each of us as individuals. Bill finds his flow
state through physical training while Gina practices yoga and
meditation. Self awareness is very helpful if we are hoping to find
our own individual flow state, and there is no one right way, each
of us has to figure out what that means for us.
Gina mentioned a book called "Be Here Now" , by Ram Dass, in
which the author describes many different ways to possibly achieve
this state of focus. It's a book well worth reading.
